our vision.
"urban story envisions a thriving movement where families and communities we disciple are empowered by the Gospel to become self sustaining christian leaders."
core
values.
scripture.
“We honor and follow Scripture as God’s inspired Word, letting it guide our faith, shape our actions, and direct how we live.”
high character.
“We value high character over giftedness, raising leaders in the Body of Christ who serve faithfully and for the long haul (1 Samuel 16:7; Proverbs 10:9; Proverbs 28:6; 1 Peter 3:16).”
fairness.
“We strive to treat everyone fairly by listening, asking questions, and valuing each person’s story, using training and a trauma-informed approach to understand and serve with justice (Proverbs 31:9; Psalm 106:3; Romans 2:11; James 1:19).”
honesty.
“We value honesty as the foundation of trust, encouraging transparency with our team, donors, and those we serve, and presenting ministry impact accurately and authentically (Proverbs 12:22; Colossians 3:9; Ephesians 4:25; Proverbs 16:28).”
discipleship.
“We value discipleship as multiplication, focusing on equipping people and relationships over events or buildings, raising up leaders who can continue God’s work in their communities (Ephesians 4:11-16; Matthew 28:18-20; 2 Timothy 2:2).”
prayer.
“We value prayer as the fuel for ministry, seeking God’s guidance, power, and healing through humble, persistent communication with Him (James 5:16; 2 Chronicles 7:14; Philippians 4:6; 1 Thessalonians 5:17; Ephesians 6:18; 1 Timothy 2:1-4).”
being spirit led.
“We value being led by the Spirit, relying on God’s guidance in every decision and trusting that obedience to Him, not human plans, brings true ministry success (Psalms 127:1; John 16:13; Romans 8:14; Psalms 143:10; Galatians 5:16).”
outreach.
“We value outreach, going above and beyond to share the Gospel and extend Jesus’ love to the lost and least of these (Mark 16:15; Romans 10:14; Matthew 25:35-40; 2 Timothy 4:2).”
the local church.
“We value the local church, partnering to equip members for discipleship and foster generational change in urban communities (1 Timothy 3:15; Acts 20:28; Ephesians 3:10).”
our story.
Urban Story was founded in 2016, with a Sidewalk Sunday School program in our Cul-De-Sacs Neighborhood where the Spirit of God fell in a mighty way. Healings, Prophecy, and Signs and Wonders began to take place not only in the apartments, but also in the streets and markets nearby. This turned into a movement of young people clamoring to learn about Jesus. Kids began to participate in the move of God by laying hands on the sick and seeing them recover. This produced a harvest of young people desiring to go to church. Urban Story was created as a resource to properly train and teach the local church in bridging the gap with the inner-city community. Our goal is to aid in facilitating the harvest that God is bringing us from the urban communities across America. We believe that revival is getting ready to spring forth from places of obscurity across this nation and worldwide. Are you ready?
